About Renee

Hey there! I'm Renee Chaptini Godwin, a proud native of Clinton Twp and a graduate of Chippewa Valley, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Oakland University. Growing up as the youngest child and the only girl of five children, I was surrounded by strong and driven siblings, which has shaped the strength and passion I carry today.

I inherited my heart from my mother, who dedicated herself to nursing before proudly retiring to the cherished role of "grandma". My entrepreneurial mind comes from my dad, a proud Lebanese immigrant who embarked on the ambitious journey of starting an Allstate Insurance Agency from scratch. For fifteen years, I humbly worked beside him, learning the ropes and eventually taking the reins to expand our family business. But like too many, when covid happened, I faced a new challenge and had to pivot my career. With unwavering support from my amazing husband and kids, I navigated the world of small business—from one franchise to another, and found myself starting the first Mosquito Authority in Metro Detroit and have grown it to be a very successful business.

As a proud military wife, I've also embraced the responsibilities and joys that come with supporting my husband's service to our country. Being a mom and stepmom has added another layer of fulfillment and adventure to my life, teaching me patience and resilience.

My journey with UCS began as a volunteer at Morgan Elementary, and I loved it! It was a hands-on experience that allowed me to connect directly with students and understand the daily dynamics of school life. This experience let me realize my passion for helping guide our youth in whatever capacity I can.  I quickly became member of EduStaff so that I could find more ways to contribute to the schools, supporting staff and students alike. From there I was honored to be elected PTO Secretary at Morgan. Alongside dedicated parents we tackled many challenges. Listening to parents’ concerns and understanding teacher’s needs became our top priority. We effectively addressed these issues, boosted morale, and strengthened our school community.

Through these experiences, I gained invaluable insights into the needs and aspirations of our district. I am dedicated to advocating for our kids and school staff, while encouraging parent involvement. My goal is to help students, staff and parents all become excited to participate in and be proud of our UCS district.
